Plant System The Agritronics Plant Monitor System (APMS) is specifically designed for the needs of Seed Cleaning Plants and agricultural product processing plants. The system includes a monitor panel to be mounted in the plant office area and a variety of sensors that can be mounted in the plant area.

The system operates sensors in the plant area through an Intrinsically Safe (I.S.) electrical barrier in the monitor panel. If there were a wiring or sensor fault in the hazardous dust area, there would be insufficient energy to cause an explosion or fire. This means that the sensors can be mounted in hazardous dust areas and the plant wiring can be inexpensive Class II type wiring. The monitor panel is approved by CSA for mounting in a standard area such as the plant office and the sensors are approved by CSA for use in a Class I Division 2 hazardous dust area.

Standard Monitor Panel (APMSMP) with power supplies is microcontroller based for ease of including a variety of different sensor types and alarm functions. There is a maximum of 80 sensor input functions and 130 output indicator and alarm functions. Input functions are installed in groups of 16 and output functions are installed in groups of 32. If a full complement of input and output groups is not originally installed, it is easy to expand to a full complement of inputs and outputs. The standard wall mounted panel size is 20 x 24 inches (51cm x 61cm) which requires a wall mounting area of 24 x 24 inches (61cm x 61cm). A generic color label is standard, a custom graphic layout of the plant functions is optional at extra cost.

Pressure Bin Level Sensor (APMSBLS) and IN/OUT channel are designed for extreme temperature operation and are protected from high static pressure. These sensors are normally attached to the bin wall and can be used for upper or lower bin level sensing applications. The normal diaphragm material is woven nylon. A special low temperature rubber diaphragm is available for high abrasion applications. These sensors can be mounted to minimize the possibility of straws, chaff or seeds lodging on them.

Capacitance Bin Level Sensor (APMSBLC) and IN/OUT channel can be mounted from the top of the bins so that straws, chaff or seeds cannot lodge on the sensor. These sensors rely on the capacitance of the material in the bin for their sensing. These sensors are not recommended if the material is very dry or very loose such as for dust or screenings bins.

Infra-red Bin Level Sensor (APMSBLO) and IN/OUT channel can be mounted from the top of the bins so that straws, chaff or seeds cannot lodge on the sensor. These sensors are available in three different sensitivities for use in receiving bins, screening bins and clean seed bins. These sensors may not work reliably where electrostatic charged dust particles could be attracted to cover the sensor.

Magnetic Switch Shaft Speed Sensor (APMSRSS) and IN/OUT channel can be used for monitoring the speed of shafts on legs or equipment. There are two types of sensors available for slow and very slow shaft speeds. The normal monitoring function of a shaft speed is to provide an alarm when the speed slows below an internally set speed.

Over Temperature Sensor (APMSCTS) and IN/OUT channel is used to monitor the operating temperature of motors or bearings on equipment in the plant. The monitor system can be programmed to alarm at one temperature and then provide a plant shutdown signal at a higher temperature. The monitor system detects wiring and sensor faults to provide a fail-safe operation.

Remote Alarm Output Channel & Piezo Alarm (APMSRAL) is an alarm suitable for outdoor use or in a "standard" electrical area in the plant. The alarm is a low current, low voltage sealed device but is not specifically approved for use in a hazardous electrical area.

Remote Alarm Acknowledge (APMSRAA ) IN/OUT channel with switch is a manual alarm acknowledge from anywhere in the plant. This sensor uses one of the available input channels the monitor system.
